The open office

In keeping with our belief in the importance of openness, communication and togetherness, our reception area is the center of the office, with open access visually and physically, to all other areas. You will know as soon as you open the glass entry door that you are in a different kind of place.

We want you to feel a sense of welcome and belonging, with recognition of your importance to us.

The building

The architectural firm of Romanowitz and Johnson designed this gorgeous building with all its light and open spaces, for Citizens Union Bank in l986; some years later a bank merger changed the name to PNC Bank. You may have noticed several other near-identical buildings around town, and of course you see our bank artifacts, the vault and door, drive through window and security items. (The tooth-brushing area was the bank customer counter, and the four-chair area was five teller windows; lots of folks have even asked about drive-through orthodontics!) Now the building happily provides one of the most unique dental offices in the world, with open spaces, and complete access and participation in every visit by any and all family members and friends.

Our own Lexington architect, Byron Romanowitz is also an excellent musician, and you may have listened to or danced to his music when he performs as one of the members of "Men of Note."

The carpet and some of the paint colors, we discovered at the local restaurant, Pacific Pearl, which was designed by award-winning Lexington architect Sarah Tate. Sarah was kind enough to share the details with us for this office.

The sculpture

Alan Rath created our sculpture of aluminum, steel, electronics, and a cathode ray tube, in l992.

Since that time it has been exhibited in Dusseldorf at the GalerieHans Mayer, at the l996 Chicago International Art Exposition, and at the l997 "Digital Decisions" at the Art Academy of Cincinnati.

The cabinetry

Our fabulous cabinetry is the artistry of Bob Leininger, of Leininger Cabinetry and Woodworking.Mr. Leininger created much of what you see in this office for Dr. Doyle’s previous office. Mr. Leininger magically transported the cabinets, and topped them with gorgeous new counters.

Voila! a beautiful backdrop for your dental care.

The Yamaha piano

The centerpiece in our office is the elegant player piano, which provides beautiful live piano music throughout our work day.

Our digital Yamaha piano has a traditional grand piano keyboard and action along with magnificent tones (which comes from stereo sampling of tones from a nine-foot Yamaha concert grand.) Our piano boasts a six-speaker built-in sound system, and it also plays through our ceiling speakers to produce its rich deep sound of computer disc recordings. We even have a disc of George Gershwin music which was digitized

from old player piano rolls played by Mr. Gershwin himself. Imagine! You are hearing music written and played by George Gershwin. And, Dr. Chris, some of the staff, patients and parents enjoy playing the piano as well.

The oil painting

This fun circus painting was created by artist Marie Vescial in l964. Ms. Vescial grew up in Cincinnati, and now lives and paints in Colorado.

Look for the unicycle high-wire act, ferris wheel, elephant, and trapeze artists.
